๐ŸคPlanning Your Recovery Support

Recovery is smoother when the practical details are arranged in advance. Think about who can help you and when โ€” most people benefit from extra support in the first two to three weeks.

Planning Your Recovery Support

Who and when

Arrange a friend or family member to collect you from hospital and stay for at least the first night at home.

Plan help with shopping, cooking and laundry for the first two weeks.

Getting around

You will not be able to drive for several weeks โ€” arrange lifts to physiotherapy and follow-up appointments in advance.

If you live alone, discuss extra support options with your surgical team or GP before surgery.

Practical tips

  • Write down a simple support rota and share it with family.
  • Batch cook meals in the weeks before surgery and freeze portions.
  • Let neighbours know you will be recovering โ€” small offers of help add up.
